In addition to broader habitat mapping we are also able to offer a protected species mapping service, providing baseline maps of known protected species distributions from biological records centres, combined with data collected by ecologists as part of a site investigation.
As part of the protected species mapping service we offer the following package:
- Source the appropriate map data, which within the UK will be 1:10,000 Ordnance Survey maps
- Provide field recording sheets for fieldworkers to draw the habitat boundaries and any addtional notes
- Digitise the completed survey maps and attach attribute information
- Transfer any GPS gathered data into GIS
- Extract descriptive information on the protected species, such as their proximity to a site and areas likely to require mitigation
- Produce high quality digital output for inclusion in technical reports for your client
- Provide the GIS data, with associated Metadata for your client as an additional project deliverable
We are aware that some cleints may require only partial aspects of the service and we are consequently able to design a bespoke service that fits your needs.
