Spatial Modelling

Spatial data has value as a record of the present state of a landscape or asset, but it also provides a basis for exploring spatial relationships, conflicts and opportunities within a landscape. The development of models within GIS can allow relationships to be explored and potential areas of interaction identified. This is an area in which en:mapping's company principal Mark Parnell has been working actively for the past eight years, both for the public and private sector as well as within academia.

Consequently we are able to offer more advanced GIS services that look into exploring spatial data in relation to your specific questions. Previous modelling includes:

  • Theoretical collision rates of birds at wind farms
  • Predictive flight corridors of birds and implications for wind farm layout
  • Habitat connectivity across a landscape
  • Opportunity mapping of sites suitable for habitat creation
  • Quantifying suitable locations for wind farm development at a regional scale
  • Measuring accessibility of resources to a population
  • Assessing the effectiveness of protected areas in conserving species of conservation concern
  • Mapping the rate and spread of populations
Please contact us to discuss how we could best make use of the geographical data that you posses to identify trends and associations. Phone the office on 0114 2730062, and ask to speak to Mark Parnell.
